Higher Ground Active Sitting Platform Chair Without Cushion

The Higher Ground Chair supports healthy movement while you sit. Designed for desk work, meditation, creative activities, and everyday use, its patented platform design encourages dynamic postures that help promote better alignment, circulation, flexibility, and core engagement.

Unlike a traditional chair that holds you in one fixed position, the Higher Ground Chair lets you sit upright, lean forward, sit cross-legged, kneel, or shift positions throughout the day. Its adjustable forward tilt helps open the hips and supports a more active, attentive sitting experience.

This version is sold without a cushion, allowing you to use a zabuton or another cushion you already own. The chair is made from a single sheet of sustainably sourced pine plywood and finished with an environmentally friendly transparent varnish.

Adjustment Angles

  • Horizontal: The top position creates a large, flat bench for upright sitting.
  • Middle Position: A gentle forward tilt helps engage the lumbar spine, open the hips, and balance knee flexion.
  • Lowest Position: A deeper forward tilt supports relaxed cross-legged, kneeling, or seiza-style postures.

Shift positions, sit sideways, stretch, or step away easily throughout the day to encourage movement and reduce the stiffness associated with prolonged static sitting.
