What marine grade means

Ordinary upholstery vinyl cracks in cold, chalks in sun and grows mildew when it stays damp. Marine vinyl is formulated for boat seats: UV inhibitors so it doesn't fade or stiffen outdoors, mildew resistance, and a cold-crack rating so it stays flexible in an unheated porch in January. It's also why it costs more than the vinyl on a big-box bean bag.

Outdoors, with one caveat

The cover sheds water and sun. The seams and zipper are the weak point in a storm, so treat it like patio cushions: fine on a deck, by a pool or in a boat, and brought under cover for a downpour or the winter. Beads left to soak stay wet for days.

Vinyl or leather

We don't make leather bean bags. Marine vinyl is what you'd want for the same reasons people ask for leather (wipe-clean, no fabric to stain) without the price, the upkeep, or the way leather behaves in sun and damp.

The pool float

Same marine vinyl, same recycled beads, and beads float. It's a bean bag chair that works in the water and dries on the deck. Not a life-saving device.

Cleaning

Mild soap and water on a cloth. No bleach, no solvent cleaners, which strip the plasticizers and shorten the vinyl's life. A vinyl protectant once a season helps outdoors. Unlike the fabric chairs, the vinyl bag holds the beads directly with no inner liner, so it's cleaned in place rather than unzipped.

Are vinyl bean bag chairs waterproof?

The fabric is. Seams and the zipper aren't fully sealed, so it handles splashes and rain showers, not submersion. The pool float is the one designed to get wet.

Can I leave it outside all year?

On a covered patio, mostly. In open weather, bring it in for storms and winter. The vinyl will survive; wet beads won't dry.

Do you make a leather bean bag chair?

No. Marine vinyl is the wipe-clean option.

Will a dog's claws puncture it?
