Hemp is naturally antimicrobial, and that's the practical reason we use it rather than an environmental talking point. The cover stays fresher between washes instead of holding onto odor, which matters more than it sounds like it should when the bed lives in your living room. Hemp also wicks moisture and breathes well, so the sleeping surface runs cooler and drier — a real difference for thick-coated breeds and for dogs that come in damp.

Choosing Between CertiPUR-US Foam and Organic Latex

Both hemp beds use the same cover. The difference is what's inside, and it comes down to your dog's age and joints more than anything else.

The hemp dog bed with CertiPUR-US foam starts from $29 and uses shredded certified foam. It's lighter, it conforms to however your dog wants to lie, and it suits younger dogs and anyone who moves the bed between rooms.

The premium hemp dog bed with organic latex starts from $39. Latex comes from rubber tree sap rather than petroleum, and it behaves differently from memory foam: it holds its shape instead of slowly flattening, it doesn't trap heat, and it supports weight without letting a dog sink all the way through to the floor. That last part is what makes it the better choice for senior dogs, large breeds, and anything with stiff joints. It also resists dust mites, which helps with allergy-prone dogs.

Washing and Caring for Your Dog's Bed

Unzip the outer cover and machine wash it with mild detergent. Air-drying preserves the fibers better than a hot dryer, particularly with hemp, which gets softer with every wash rather than breaking down.

Every week or two is a reasonable rhythm for most households. Dogs that swim, roll in things, or have skin conditions need it more often. The zippers are pet-safe and the stitching is built to survive repeated laundering, so washing often isn't going to wear the bed out faster.

Replacement Covers and Custom Sizes

Flat, compressed fill is the one that gets missed, because it happens slowly. Press down in the spot your dog actually sleeps in and see whether it recovers. If the fill is gone but the cover is intact, that's a fill problem, not a bed problem — and the reverse is true too, which is why we sell the two separately.

What Is the Safest Material for a Dog Bed?

What you're avoiding is synthetic fabric with chemical treatments and petroleum foams carrying flame retardants, since your dog is in contact with the surface for hours at a stretch and often has their face pressed directly into it.
