Pillowcase sizes
Our cases are labeled by the pillow they fit, not by the finished case measurement; the tag inside lists every size with yours checked. Measure your pillow flat, width by length, and match it here.
| Size | Fits a pillow measuring | Where it's used |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 20 x 26 in | Twin and full beds; the most common US pillow |
| Queen | 20 x 30 in | Queen beds; 4 in longer than standard |
| King | 20 x 36 in | King beds |
| Toddler / Travel | 13 x 18 in | Toddler beds, car seats, carry-on bags |
| Japanese | 14 x 20 in | Low-profile buckwheat and millet pillows |
| Neck roll | 4 x 12, 5 x 14, 6 x 16 in | Cervical rolls, bolsters, yoga props |
Between sizes? Go up. A case that's an inch loose looks fine; one that's an inch tight won't close.
Cotton, linen or hemp
- Organic cotton sateen, 300 thread count. Smooth and cool, and the closest match to a regular bed pillowcase. GOTS-certified organic cotton in natural and white; conventional cotton in more colors.
- Cotton flannel. Brushed, warmer, and the one parents usually pick for toddler cases.
- European linen. Breathes better than cotton and softens with every wash. It wrinkles; that's linen. Neck roll sizes, several colors.
- Hemp. Heaviest and toughest of the four, with a visible weave. Made for Sleeping Bean body pillows, neck rolls and head pillows that get dragged around.
Pillowcase or pillow protector?
A pillowcase is the outer layer you wash weekly. A protector goes underneath, zips fully closed, and keeps dust mites, skin cells and sweat out of the pillow itself. If allergies are why you're here, start with the zippered organic cotton protector in any of the sizes above, then put a regular case over it. Wash the protector monthly.
Toddler pillowcases
The toddler size fits a 13 x 18 pillow, which is the standard toddler pillow size and also most travel pillows. Same organic cotton as the adult sizes, same internal flap, so the pillow doesn't end up on the floor at 2 a.m. Need the pillow too? See travel pillows.
Care
Machine wash warm, tumble dry low. Skip bleach and fabric softener; softener coats the fibers and undoes the breathability you paid for. Linen and hemp get softer with every wash. Iron linen while it's still damp if the wrinkles bother you. Washing the pillow itself is a different job; see how to wash a cotton pillow.
