Which size

  • 4 x 12. Under the neck on top of a flat pillow, or in a carry-on. The smallest and easiest to travel with.
  • 5 x 14. The middle size and the one most adults pick for cervical support or behind the lower back in a chair.
  • 6 x 16. For larger frames, under the knees for back sleepers, or between the knees for side sleepers.

Which fill

  • Buckwheat hulls. Firmest. Molds to the neck and stays there. The traditional cervical roll.
  • Millet hulls (same product, choose millet). Softer and silent, with the same shape-holding.
  • Kapok. Soft and light. For people who want cushioning more than structure.
  • Shredded latex. Springy and resilient; holds its shape without the weight or sound of hulls.

How to use a neck roll

Back sleepers: lay it across a low pillow so it sits in the curve of the neck, not under the head. Side sleepers: put it between the knees to keep the hips level. Sitting: behind the lower back in a desk chair or car seat. It's a support, not a full pillow; most people use it alongside one.

Frequently asked questions

What size neck roll pillow should I get?

5 x 14 unless you're small-framed (4 x 12) or plan to use it under or between the knees (6 x 16).

Buckwheat or latex for a neck roll?

Buckwheat if you want it to hold one shape all night. Latex if you shift position and want it to spring back with you.

Can I sleep on a neck roll alone?

Some back sleepers do. Most use it on or beside a flat pillow so the head has somewhere to rest.

Are neck roll pillows washable?

The shells and cases are. Hull and kapok fill stay out of the washer; latex fill is spot-clean only.
