How Much Fill Should I Buy?

Estimate fill for pillows, cushions, bolsters and other projects. For a bean bag chair, use our Bean Bag Fill Calculator. Choose your intended use, then enter the shape dimensions or container volume.

100% equals the measured volume. 200% means twice that volume of loose fill before compression. Changing fill or intended use resets this starting allowance.

Enter your measurements to see an estimate.

These are estimates, not guaranteed purchase quantities. Cover shape, measurements, packing, existing fill and preferred firmness affect the result. Compressible fills settle under load. Add gradually and adjust by feel. If the result seems unusual, contact us before buying.

Great quality millet hulls! I ordered 10lbs to refill my sleep pillow (regular size) probably only needed 5lbs but the extra is nice for refills (if you have a king pillow go for 10lbs)! Millet hulls for pillows are so great, quieter and softer than buckwheat and very supportive. Thank you!

Pillow was malleable when shaped with hands but did not move when sleeping and felt hard as concrete. Seems to sort of lock into place unlike the softer styrofoam beads of a beanbag. Looking for a natural alternative but the millet is definitely not it. Also emitted millet dust. Wanted to return but I discarded the packaging because I thought it would be a perfect fit. Now I’m stuck with a $45 bag of millet (high shipping cost) and still looking for a good pillow.

These are good millet hulls and make comfy pillows but are still a little dusty. I bought hulls from somewhere else a few months ago but they were mixed with lavender, so I'm not sure if the lavender covered up some of the dustiness. You can see the dust in the air when you pour these into a pillow and I didn't notice it with the other batch. Also, it's easy to poke a finger through the bags they came in when picked up to pour. This was the best price for millet hulls I found, and as I continue to vacuum, the dustiness will go away, so I think they are definitely worth the purchase. You could transfer them to a stronger cloth bag to shake the dust away, and pour from that one, and the problems I mentioned are resolved.
