Understanding Certifications

GOTS - Organic Textiles

GOTS - Organic Textiles

The Global Organic Textile Standard sets requirements for processing textiles made with certified organic fibers, including environmental and social criteria. Check which specific fabric or product the certification covers.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

Tests textile articles for harmful substances. Certification applies to the article identified on the certificate and does not, by itself, mean the material is organic.

CertiPUR-US® - Foam

CertiPUR-US® - Foam

Tests flexible polyurethane foam for content, emissions and durability. The certification covers the foam component, rather than the fabric cover or the entire finished product.

GOLS - Certified Latex

GOLS - Certified Latex

The Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) sets requirements for organic latex, including its organic content, processing, and supply chain. Certification applies to qualifying latex materials, not automatically to every finished product containing latex. Check individual product details for availability.

A Few Things to Know

Are all Bean Products made from organic materials?

Materials vary by product and selected option. We offer both organic and conventional materials. Check the individual product description for its fabric, fill, and applicable certification details.

Does a certified material mean the entire product is certified?

Not automatically. A certification may cover a specific fabric, fill, or component. Refer to the individual product details to understand what it covers.

How do I choose the right fill?

Start with the feel you prefer. Buckwheat hulls provide firm, moldable support. Kapok offers soft, lightweight loft. Shredded latex feels springy, while shredded foam is soft and compressible. Bean bag beads move freely for shaping and comfort.

How much fill should I order?

Use our fill calculators for a starting estimate based on your project, dimensions, and material. Packing, existing fill, and preferred firmness affect the amount needed. Add fill gradually, and contact us if an estimate seems unusually large or heavy.

How should I clean my fabric or fill?

Follow the care instructions for your specific product. Removable covers and inner fills may require different care, and some fills should stay dry. Contact us before washing if you’re unsure.
