How to care for a kapok pillow

Keep kapok filling dry. Do not machine wash a pillow while the kapok filling is inside.

Cover, shell, and filling

The removable cover goes over the pillow. The inner shell holds the filling. These parts may have different care instructions.

Remove an outer cover before cleaning it, and follow its care label.

Cleaning the inner shell

Spot clean the shell as needed, keeping moisture away from the filling.

If your pillow has a zippered shell and its instructions allow washing the empty shell, remove all filling first. Let the shell dry completely before putting the kapok back inside.

Adjusting the fullness

For an adjustable pillow, redistribute the filling by fluffing it. Add or remove small amounts of kapok until the pillow feels comfortable.
